Vapor Medi Hart

 By Lazysrain (SSUK2009-05  Pag 19)

Just recently it was put to us that vaporizing cannabis flowers at specific temperatures is the best way to isolate individual cannabinoids for medicinal effect.

Open minded as we were to testing out any new hypothesis and enhance botanical knowledge we also liked the idea of getting medicated at different levels of personal convenience.

Softsecrets then arranged a session on a local vapor unit to place the oryin to practice.

The information sourced in this report was sent to us in way of a “Photocopy” from work conducted by a group of chemists (Old friends) whose extra-curricular academic activity includes exploration in to cannabis compounds, likewise the people that forwarded this information over wanted to release this information now for the benefit of themedi cannabis community.

Many thanks to all those involved.

In a nutshell, different compounds within the chemical profile of cannabis are released into the atmosphere (And human body) at different levels of temperature, vaporizing is a modern way of inhaling the most active ingredients of cannabis without combustion, smoke or fire.

Is the air surrounding the cannabis flower rises in temperature the active compounds within cannabis are released in theory by controlling the vaporizer temperature setting smokers are able to inhale different cannabis compounds in relative isolation to the other cannabis compounds.

The resin that surrounds cannabis flowers contains more than 200 separate chemical compounds depending on individual cultivar each of which produces a very different medicinal effect.

These chemical compounds are associated with the smell, taste, flavour, the stickiness and toxicity of the plant material at varying ages.

In this report we shall look at only 6 of the 40 known cannabinoids within cannabis.

7-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)

Is the compound in cannabis that gives smokers the classic “High” effect.

However in humans THC also acts as Analgesic, Anti-Inflammatory, Anti-Oxidant, Anti-Emetic and Euphoriant.

 Temperature setting 157ºC

Cannabidinol (CBD)

Is one of the compounds within cannabis that provides medicinal cannabis users with a mental sense of well being and ease.

CBD is Anxiolytic, Analgesic, Antipsychotic, Anti-Inflammatory, Antioxidant and Antispasmodic.

 Temperature setting 160ºC - 180ºC

Cannabinol (CBN)

Is a complex compound. CBN acts as an Oxidization Breakdown Product when consumed by humans as a Sedative and as Antibiotic.

 Temperature setting 185ºC

Cannabichrome (CBC)

Is the often unmentioned compound. CBC holds Anti-Inflammatory, Antibiotic and Antifungal properties.

 Temperature setting 220ºC

Cannabigcrol (CBG)

 Is another relatively unknown compound.

CBG likewise holds Anti-Inflammatory, Antibiotic and Antifungal properties.

 Temperature setting 220ºC

Tetrahydro-cannabivarin (THCV)

Is the compound within cannabis that gives smokers a “Rush” or immediate “Up” effect THCV is an Analgesic and Euphoriant.

 Temperature setting 220ºC

So we had the “Medi Vapor Chart” in one hand, a flower of cannabis from Magus Genetics in the other, and a Volcano Vaporizer on the table in front of us.

Our host proceeded to switch on the big silver vaporizer device and explain how it worked.

Then they broke the dried flower down into the herb portal, dialed the temperature setting to 155ºC (Approx) and placed the collection bag over the top of the device.

A green light was switched on and the bag was slowly filled up with THC vapor.

Once filled with vapor the device was switched off.

We then shared the vapor bag between us.

The THC vapor gave a quick effect, 5 - 6 seconds after inhaling.

It was the type of high and feeling experienced when you are really intoxicated on high grade cannabis.

It was a strong effect, almost overpowering, but not uncomfortable.

This was followed by that comfortable feeling that any Skunk smoker would recognize.

The conversation intensified then lingered in places, in a typical stoner fashion.

The energy was peaceful and relaxing.

Having already participated in a few Cheese joints outside we cut to the chase on the next vapor load at 185º C and went straight up to a 210º C - 220º C temperature setting using the same sample we`d already tested.

In the least we wanted to test the theory that the first temperature setting hadn`t vaporized all the active ingredients from the Magus Genetics!.

The temperature was set and the sample was ready for revaporizing.

The bag was placed back over the herb portal until it was filled.

This vapor was CBD, CBN, CBC,CBG and THCV combined.

It produced much more in the way of effect than we could have ever expected from a sample that had already had the THC removed.

First the THCV hit the chest, an unforgiving feeling that reminded us of the first time we ever experienced smoking cannabis (Similar to smoking your first spliff after along break).

The mood was slightly paranoid for no apparent reason coupled with a mild feeling of nausea.

This was followed by a sudden subdued (Couch-lock) effect.

This was later followed by such a complex arrangement of pleasant cannabinoid sensations that it would be near impossible to describe them in any rational sense in paper.

Needless to say that we were totally enlightened by the whole experience and have been back since to test the theory further using different samples.

This time round we experimented, only to agree with the information provided by the Chemists that, above 200º C carbons are released into the bag which produce a thicker, almost smoke like vapor.

This vapor we decided must be bad for human health!.

The discussion that followed was more interested in upping or removing the THCV via temperature so that a clean hit of CBD, CBN, CBC, and CBG could be discovered (After the THC hit), without the uncomfortable feeling that the THCV gives.

It´s a real conundrum, which we hope our scientist friends can break through sooner or later and then share the information with us.

In short, all this means is that Medi Users can now access the most active medicinal cannabinoids within cannabis (The CBD, CBN, CBC and CBG) without consuming the most mental recreationally active compounds (The THC and THCV).

Simply by vaporizing a cannabis sample at 160º C (Approx) first and then rejecting the THC vapor the sample is then ready for medicinal application!.

Then by re-vaporizing the same sample at a setting of 185º C (Approx) a therapeutic hit of CBD, CBN, CBC and CBG can be attained without much of the THCV being released.

The used sample can then be discarded or added to the compost bin.

In reality, the medicinal effects and indeed molecular composition of THC, CBD, CBN, CBC, CBG, THCV and other cannabinoid compounds within cannabis are yet to be fully understood by Scientists – let alone the Medicinal Community!.

In this way it always pays to be cautious when administering your own natural medicine at home Cannabis is a natural yet powerful mind-altering substance even when ingested.

All plants should be valued and treated with the respect they deserve.

Gradually medicinal cannabis users must then learn to understand and respect the botanical virtues that cannabis has to offer.

This approach will ultimately allow Medi users better access to their preferred natural medicine and improve their overall health.

 Happy vaporizing!

Saludos.
